Project 1 Proposal

After considering all kinds of different themes, I have decided to focus on healthy food alternatives for my first project. Recently, I have made it my New Year’s Resolution to transition from poor eating habits to a new healthier lifestyle. I knew that I did not want to have to completely transform my diet into never enjoy decadent sweets and other types of treats. However, through my research I have been able to discover that healthy alternatives incorporated into an everyday diet are much more attainable than I had expected. With the American obesity rate increasing exponentially, healthy food alternatives need to be broadcasted into a more positive and attainable light. Just last year, over 39% of Americans were considered "overweight" or "obese". In America, we live in a culture of trans-fats, fried foods and greasy meals that we all cultivate in and love. As much as I enjoy a greasy hamburger, cutting down on the unwanted fats doesn't have to mean you have to give up hamburgers and hotdogs completely. In my future career, I hope to start my own business that creates a product that is created with all natural ingredients that provide a healthy alternative. While I'm unsure how or when I would be able to develop a product like this, it is a personal goal of mine to lift healthy eating out of American's negative mindsets. As far as my composition selection, I plan to focus on three main articles: "How to make healthier food choices", "Healthy Eating", and "Smart substitutions to eat healthy". I feel that these three articles focus on three different but important aspects of transitions into a healthier diet. As far as the article "How to make healthier food choices", the article lays out specific types of food alternatives for each food group that can be eaten instead of a snack filled with unnecessary fat. On the contrary, the article "Healthy Eating" explains and breaks down positive mood and health benefits from making healthier food choices. Finally, the article "Smart substitutions to eat healthy" discusses ways that you can substitute regular meals with healthier ingredients. Each of these articles focus on a unique aspect of both accomplishing and benefiting from a healthy food lifestyle.
